Employee engagement is a hot topic in HR learning and development so you’ll find lots of great tools and resources that will help you identify how engaged your workforce are and what to do if they are not. But what about you, the business owner? Are you ‘engaged’?
I acknowledge the struggle of hard-working leaders and how challenging it can be for you to engage in your business and with your people every day, especially when you don’t feel like it.
If you recognise that you are disengaged, think about what you can do to change that, ideally before you pass that feeling on to your staff.
You could join a coaching programme or explore other self-development routes to ‘find yourself’ and ‘your life’s purpose’, but if you think that’s a step too far down the woo-woo track, or you’re too busy to invest your time in that now, that’s ok, but self-development might just get you out of your funk, so bear this in mind if your apathy has lasted way too long.
