Have you set yourself a ridiculously high a standard and adopted a mask that prevents your staff from seeing how you really feel whilst playing your part as an employer? It’s a common trap that we can fall into, but I think the stresses and strains of managing a workforce through lockdown has caused more of us to hide whilst we try to figure things out.
Are you tolerating poor attitude, performance, conduct or work ethic because it’s better than being labelled “the bad guy” again?
Are you carrying staff because it’s easier than facing the conflict that you dread will follow if you address your concerns formally? You may be worried that they will go off sick, raise a grievance, sabotage your business, poison staff morale or threaten you with “their uncle who is a trade union rep”.
If you were to allow yourself the opportunity to take off the mask and be true to yourself as an employer, what workforce issues would be on your to do list to resolve?
I’m certain that it will be less exhausting for you to deal with those issues than continuing to wear that uncomfortable mask for much longer.
On 17th December, I am running a workshop for employers to show you how to leave your masks in 2020 and start 2021 with a fresh approach to people management; an authentic approach, no bullsh*t impossible standards that you’ll never live up to included!
It’s free, no catch or upsell. So, if you’re ready to do the prep before the Christmas break, register your place now.
If you would prefer to schedule a one to one with me, complete the form below, hit Submit and I’ll be in touch to arrange one with you.
